Toddling with Little Life

As Taylor’s confidence with walking has grown the more active he has become. He no longer waddles around like a penguin tripping at every bump in the road, he runs, he jumps, he stomps. It’s rare that he actually ‘walks’ at normal pace.

Full of a sense of adventure and independence, Taylor insists on walking more and more. Let go of his hand for a split second and it’s guaranteed he’ll be off into the distance like lightening. Not wanting to stop him from having his independence, we wanted to allow him to walk more. But without risking his safety.

To do this we’ve been using the Littlelife Toddler Daysack reins. We were sent the daysack to test in the adorable Buzz lightyear design. Retailing at £24.99  Taylor wanted to wear it from the moment it arrived. He wore it in the house over for three days until we could get outside with it and the novelty still hasn’t worn off.

Even if we aren’t going anywhere and he see’s it he will shout ‘bag’ until he is wearing it. The fact that he liked it from the get go was great to see. We were initially concerned he would scream or have a paddy at having it strapped to him, how wrong were we? And why can’t he be this excited when we strap him into his high chair?

The little life day sack is a cute little backpack with a 2l cpaacity. Perfect for holding a nappy and wipes or in Taylors case, a ball. The daysack has what is essentially a clip on lead, for the parent to hold. The backpack looks great and allows us to keep Taylor nearby without holding his hand. Available in a rage of designs from Disney characters to Dinosaurs, Ladybirds, The Gruffalo or a simple plain design.

We’ve used the daysack extensively from walks in the park to super market shops and day trips to the zoo. Before having the daysack we wouldn’t have dreamt of allowing him to be out of his pram, especially in a busy public space. It’s every parents nightmare and only take a second for them wander off. Now we’re walking around the park without worrying, he can’t run off and he’s learning to stay close to us without being prompted.

Unlike your average set of reins the daysack doesn’t stop them from falling. It’s a backpack before a set of reins. The clip on strap is a great way of stopping a confident walker from roaming. It doesn’t tightly harness them. Initially we  weren’t keen but it has actually helped his confidence. It also means he doesn’t feel like we’re pulling him back and most of the time he doesn’t realise we’re holding on. He just thinks he has a fun bag, and he does!
