Dear Taylor,

Today you are 18 months old.

It feels like weeks since your first birthday. Not months.
A lot has changed in the last 6 months in all aspects of our lives.

You learnt to walk shortly after your birthday, and mummy returned to work full-time. Taking a year off still doesn’t mean I got to see all those ‘firsts’. You took your first steps on the day I returned to work. You couldn’t have waited until I got home? Low blow.

Grandma was there and told us all about it. I’m still not sure if I’d have preffered people to just pretend it didn’t happen until I saw it first. But you did it, that’s what matters.

You wobbled around for weeks like a little drunk penguin. Now you’re like lightening, running, jumping, climbing. You don’t pitter patter,  you run and stomp, everywhere. You’re full-on, a non-stop ball of energy and smiles. You’re perfect.

We finally made it onto the property ladder and are set to move into our new home in September. It feels great knowing you’re going to grow up in a house that is ours. A real home where we can make memories. We’ll carve your height into door frames and hang your picture on the walls, it’s going to be perfect.

You currently spend week days with Grandma, who you have since named Nin-Nin. The pair of you are crazy together. It’s nice to see you grow up with family around you. It will be hard for you both when we move house and you start nursery.

Since we moved to Grandma and Grandads your bed time routine has gone out the window. You don’t like your bedroom here, I get home late and you often end up in with us. It’s fine though, we actually like having you cuddled up with us. I write this as both you and Daddy are snoring away next to me. The cutest.

Your speech has come on tremendously in the last few weeks. You went from saying mama, dada, baba to saying ball and with that new words came each day. You attempt to repeat everything we say and will be speaking in sentences before we know it.

Some of the words you’re rocking at 18 months – • Mummy • Mama • Daddy • Dada • Ball •Baba • Dog • Baby • Me • Grandma • Nin-nin • Grandad • Car • Good- boy • Tea • Eat • Teeth • Raa-Raa • Bing • There • No • Yes • Yuk

You attended your first festival last month, Geronimo festival, which had all your favourite CBeebies characters. You saw Mr Bloom and Andy! We also visited the local farm park, where you stuck your finger in a pigs nose and fed baby goats. You had your first trip to the seaside with your cousin Riley where you paddled in the sea and built sandcastles. You’ve also been helping Granddad with his garden, throwing dirt, eating dirt and watering the plants.

I still haven’t left you overnight. I still hate leaving you each morning as I leave for work. I still watch you sleep. You’re still my baby.

Today You are 18 months old.

Such a wonderful post. Time flies by doesn’t it. Too fast. I had my son in July and to think he will be doing all his firsts soon is just unreal.
