First impressions of the Smartrike Explorer 5 in 1

As summer approaches we’re making it our mission to get outdoors and spend more time together. Recent statistics show British school children are spending less time outdoors than a prisoner. I find this shocking as growing up we spent more time outside than in.

We weren’t consumed by technology or immersed in video games all day. We were climbing trees and catching grass hoppers.

As an official #littlesmartriker and as part of our attempt to get out more we’re going to be using the Smartrike Explorer 5-in-1 tricycle.

Smartrike are a globally award winning brand who produce trikes that grow with your baby and aid their development.

The smartrike Explorer is suitable from 10 months to 3 years and grows with your child and their needs. For the RRP of £119.99 and I think is worth every penny. It’s also available in Red, Grey, Blue, Orange, Purple or Green colour ways.

It took around 20 minutes to build the trike whilst Taylor helped, climbing on me, stealing the parts and being a nuisance. Now that is impressive. It wasn’t long before we were able to hit the road and start testing out our new set of wheels.

You can watch us build it here – Unfortunately my battery died without me realising before we sat him in it and sped off! –

With a built in safety harness, bumper bar and reclining seat it’s as safe and convenient as stroller. We can fit it into the boot of our car and take it anywhere so there are no limits to where we can use it. First impressions are everything. Especially when investing in something for your child and the Smartrike has impressed us.

It’s easy to steer. Handles a multitude of terrains well and has brought Taylor closer to his surroundings. All whilst keeping him safe. He’s had numerous naps in the smartrike already and looks comfortable.

It also comes with a roomy shopping bag over the back, and a convenient pouch for your keys/phone on the handle.

Another great feature of the Smartike Explorer 5-in-1 are the many stages. Taylor’s feet don’t reach the pedals yet so we still have the foot rests out and are using the trike in stage 1 mode, fully controlled by the parent. As he grows it will allow us to adapt the trike to his needs.

We can’t wait to spend spring and summer going on adventures with the smartrike, so far we think it’s fantastic. A stepping stone between Taylor using the pram and walking. it’s a window into the outside world and an opportunity for him to get up close with his surroundings. It’s a fun a toy that Daddy likes to whizz around the park and it’s encouraging us to get out of the house. Not just a trike after all.

Overall our first impressions are nothing but good and I’m hoping the smartrike will continue to impress us the more we use it. We’ll be sharing our Smartrike adventures and thoughts on all things smartrike with you right here so you can come along for the ride.

  • Awww look at that lovely little face – time well spent putting it together. We’ve been looking to get little miss one of these for a while now but I can’t decide on which brand but this one looks worth the money and I love all the little pockets and pouches. Great review xXx
