Piccolo is an organic Mediterranean brand of baby food pouches. Encouraging a way of eating which is naturally full of superfoods, crammed with vegetables, pulses, dairy, whole grains, fish & good, mono-unsaturated fats like olive oil.
Piccolo, which is italian for Little, was started by Cat who believes in good nutritional food for children. All children, which is why she also began The Food Education Foundation providing advise and guidance to parents. 10% of profits from Piccolo pouches goes to food education charities to teach parents about healthy eating.
Unlike other baby food brands Piccolo aren’t afraid to be bold in the flavours they offer. With flavours such as Squash, Red Pepper & Chickpea to Spring Greens with a hint of Mint for main meals they aren’t your average baby meals. I’ve tasted these pouches myself and they’re delicious. Some baby foods would make you grimace . I like to think if I wouldn’t eat it, then why should they?
They also offer a selection of tasty fruit pouches including Bannana Blueberry and Apple and our favourite Cherry & Yoghurt, amongst others, for after dinner or snacking on the go. Your little Piccolo won’t get bored anytime soon.
It’s not just about the flavours though, another thing I love is the fact these meals come in pouches. Many baby meals come in pouches these days and they’re not only convenient but they offer multiple ways of serving meals.
Our favourite ways to use Piccolo pouches –
• On the go – Straight from the pouch, suck it like a straw.
• In a dish, shaped like a fish (no, really. His dish is fish shaped)
• Spooning – Directly from the pouch these are perfect for squeezing onto a spoon in the early stages of weaning and perfect for eating out.
• From frozen – Pop a fruit pouch directly in the freezer and smush it into a slush or serve it as an ice lolly, either from the pouch or in a lolly mould. Perfect for teething!
So far Taylor loves Piccolo pouches, and so do I. They’re our go to for popping into the changing bag whenever we’re heading out somewhere and a perfect nutritional snack for on the go.
I’m very particular about the foods I give to Taylor, I was one of those home made purée mums for the first few months of weaning, before returning to work sucked up all of my time. Had Piccolo been available to us then I’d have been happy to have them as a part of our weaning journey.
