Breastfeeding with Breastvest

One thing I found to be difficult whilst pregnant was clothing. What do you wear when you have a huge bump that none of your clothes will stretch over? Let’s face it, pregnancy fashion isn’t always the best.  I did however find Bibee – and they were great! During my pregnancy I found myself longing for the day when I could not only be snuggling up to our precious bundle but also be able to wear my favourite clothes again.

So what if you decide to breastfeed?… Surely it’s not possible to wear your favourite clothes? Well no, especially if you intend on feeding without flashing your bits & bobs.

In my case, I was conscious about my wobbly stretched torso, and if I were comfortable, then sure I could flash the flesh but most of us want to keep it to ourselves and feel as though nobody should have to see that.

After having Taylor, I found that most nursing tops just weren’t me. Both in shape and style. Many were not something I would choose to wear yet I was not willing to give up on the idea of breastfeeding simply because I disliked the clothing.

Like many women, I took to wearing cheap stretchy vests under my normal clothes. It works to a point, you pull your top up whilst pulling the vest down and voila DIY nursing tops. However, after a while the top of these vests becomes stretched and saggy, plus trying to roll down a nursing bra under the vest isn’t easy either. Not to mention the cheap material being ridiculously warm!

Thanks to the BreastVest my troubles are behind me and I’ve not looked back since the day I started using them.  The adeptly named BreastVest is simply a vest that has been repurposed specifically for nursing. The top of vest stops just below the breast where your bra sits – giving you full access to your nursing bra without having to pull down any layers or show any skin.

I found BreastVest to be the perfect solution for wearing my favourite clothes whilst nursing, however you do look a little funny when wearing the vest alone. It does mean one less layer to contend with whilst dealing with a hungry baby though. The result is a stylish looking mummy and no more stretched vests. Perfect right!?

  • I loved BF on both mylittleloves. I don’t think there was such an easy gadget at this time to help new mums though x

  • Fi Ni Neachtain

Whilst I only breastfed my son for a short while I can totally sympathise with how difficult it is to get clothes for nursing needs. I hated having to pull down my top, fiddle with the clasp on my nursing bra… this vest would make the process a whole lot easier for mums.

  • Life With Munchers

I’d defo look at something like this if I was to ever breastfeed. I’d be the type of person to be conscious until I got used to it, so this would be ideal.

  • What a great practical idea! They never had anything to make breastfeeding this easy when I was feeding my babies.

  • Kerry Louise

I love the look of these, I didn’t get on too well with nursing bras so ended up just using my usual ones which was a hassle something like this would have made breastfeeding much easier. xx
