It's in the Bag Baby - Everything But the Kitchen Sink!

Before I became a mum I carried around an array of colourful satchels in varying sizes, you’d usually find my iPad mini for reading and my pink beats headphones for the daily commute, a cadburys twirl, lip balm and a tonne of hand sanitiser. Simple! Now I precision pack a large bag with everything from nappies to nasal sprays.

The first weeks of having my mummy bag took some getting used to and everything was sort of thrown in like a fifteen year olds school bag, it was impossible to go into the bag and instantly retrieve what you went in for, as someone who loves organisation it was horrible, It was like Hermione Granger’s magic handbag after falling from a broomstick, messy!its_in_the_bag_pink_lining_08

Jump ahead six months and I’ve mastered it!

To finally put an end to this chaos I structured my bag using a set of clear makeup/travel bags, now everything lives in its own specified location and works perfectly for me.

My current essentials (essentials being almost everything in the bag, because it really is essential!) consists of the following –

Changing –

♥ Nappies

♥ Waterwipes – Which I keep in a funkybox, I love these!

♥ Burts Bees 2 in 1 nappy cream

Medicines –

♥ Anbesol liquid – A teething godsend, a friend recommended this to us and I don’t leave the house without it.

♥ Sugar & Colour Free Calpol – incase of fever or particularly bad teething days.

♥ Snufflebabe saline spray  – Tiny is so congested at the moment, this helps him to latch properly for feeds.

♥ Dentinox eye wipes – T often gets very goopy eyes so I carry these to keep them clear.

Clothing –

After a few explosive nightmares whilst out and about – aren’t they always while you’re out? –  I now pack more than 1 change of clothing. Usually just sleep suits as an easy go to if his cute outfit of the day is a complete write-off.

♥ 2 x sleep suits

♥ 2 x vests

♥ 3 x bibs

Keeping it Sterile –

Two of my most essential items

♥ Hand sanitiser – I hate the thought of germs and handles on public transport and such. Yuk!
♥ Portable Milton soother steriliser – Probably one of the coolest things ever!

Mummy supplies –

My supplies have dwindled further over the months but my key essentials are always in the bag.

♥ Purse – Can’t leave the house without this!

♥ Water – I always pack a bottle of water as nursing makes you so thirsty!

♥ Lansinoh – We still need this on occasion

♥ Prevalin spray – The only hayfever item pharmacists will give me as I am breastfeeding.

♥ Benebalm – My favourite tinted lip balm

♥ Power Bar –  Because days out drain my phone battery, the EE power bar is great!

♥ Pherous Sulphate – Iron tablets I’m still taking since losing a lot of blood during labour.

I pack a lot in my bag, I know some people have very minimal items in their bag but on some occasions we can be out of the house for up to 6 hours, and I like to cover every eventuality.

I also like to take Taylor’s red book as it’s best to always have this with you. I don’t pack toys in the bag as he usually keeps Sophie attached to his pram clips (Isn’t that giraffe AMAZING?!) and a toy in his pram, although he prefers to spend his time pulling cute faces at me anyway.

So there you have it, my daily essentials required to leave the house on any given day with tiny T!

I’ll have arms of steel before you know it carrying this lot 😉

This is my entry into the Pink Lining Ambassador Search #ItsInTheBagBaby

*No babies were harmed in the taking of these pictures, one bag however may have been chewed and drooled on! 😉

  • What a great idea! I love those huge bags but hate it when everything falls to the bottom, so thanks for this!

Thanks Lauren, they’re really handy and it’s so easy to find everything in my bag now. Xx
